The Opportunity
The University of Edinburgh Hospitality and Events Collection is the commercial arm of the world-leading University of Edinburgh, which includes the conference and events team. We provide a professional operation across a broad portfolio of conferences, meetings and events, from major international conferences to day meetings and prestigious dining events (circa 2,000 events annually), held at venues across the University’s portfolio. Additionally, the team operates a large Outside Catering and Delivered Hospitality service to university buildings and to private and corporate locations across the city.
Assistant Catering and Events Operations Manager is a role who can influence product development, inspire confidence and build effective relationships while ensuring the operations team work efficiently and logistically “smart” and consistently deliver exemplary standards of service.
This role demands experience in a similarly complex environment and a passion for hospitality. Self-motivation, strong people, resource and time management skills alongside robust financial & IT skills are essential for this role, as is the ability to achieve targets and work flexible hours.
Your Skills And Attributes For Success
- Relevant experience of supervising people and teams to deliver successful events in a hospitality, catering or events environment.
- A strong team player who can work closely with supervisors and team members to exceed customer expectations.
- Outstanding organisation skills and the ability to prioritise your time and help keep others on track.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate with a wide range of customers.
- Ability to effectively communicate and coach others to meet our standard operating procedures, operational health and safety requirements and core ACE values
- Self-motivation and passion for developing your career.
- All candidates require a Full Driving Licence as this role requires the post holder to drive University of Edinburgh vehicles.
