The Department of Engineering Technology at Shawnee State University is seeking applicants for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Computer Science faculty position beginning Spring 2025 but a start of Autumn 2025 may be negotiated.
The Department of Engineering Technology contains nationally ranked programs in Plastics Engineering Technology and Digital Simulation and Gaming as well as computing-related Bachelor of Science programs in Computer Engineering Technology, Cybersecurity, and Computer Science. The computing programs at Shawnee State share an Imagine, Design, and Build philosophy that is incorporated throughout the curriculum.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach three to four courses per semester from a broad range of undergraduate courses in computer science, advise undergraduate students, serve on department, college, or university-wide committees, and engage in professional development/scholarship activities. Scholarship is broadly defined, including but not limited to publications, peer-reviewed journal articles, technology commercialization (for example, hardware or software development), open-source software development, or conference presentations.
Since Shawnee State is primarily a teaching institution, preference will be given to candidates with prior post-secondary teaching experience. Other preferred skills include knowledge of machine learning, simulation or computer graphics/visualization, familiarity with software/hardware/IoT interfacing (for example, Raspberry Pi or Arduino), knowledge of ABET accreditation requirements for CS programs, interdisciplinary research interests, and an interest in supervising internships or the potential for developing a research program involving undergraduate students.
The search committee will review applications until the position is filled. The initial review of applicants will take place on 09/20/2024. Only online applications will be accepted.
