The Assistant After School Coordinator is responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, and supervision of the after school program. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with peers, teachers, and students, have a deep commitment to student achievement, hold students and self to high expectations, and uphold Navigator school culture at all times.
Responsibilities
Support the After School Program Coordinator with the development of activity plans and daily schedules in collaboration with afterschool staff and school leadership
Supervise staff to ensure safety and appropriate activities and monitoring of student behavior
Engage school staff and partners to provide enrichment opportunities
Collaborate with site leadership teams, teachers, network personnel and other stakeholders as assigned
Collaborate with the After School Program Coordinator to plan and implement field trips, student events, and family workshops
Communicate regularly with the After School Program Coordinator about program incidents and student behavior
Perform other duties as assigned by After School Program leadership
Work with the After School Program Coordinator to support program registration and tracking family fee payments, as applicable
Support attendance and snack distribution
Student SupportSupport positive student behavior
With the support of the Student Services department and teachers, assist students in areas of educational need
Assist students with increased academic or behavioral needs as assigned (training provided as needed)
Professional ExpectationsParticipate fully in all assigned staff meetings, professional developments and planning sessions
Prepare student activity plans as assigned
Participate fully in the coaching cycle (being observed, receiving real-time and post-lesson feedback, collaborate with coach on action steps, implement action steps, etc.)
Support the general day-to-day happenings of the school site
Uphold Navigator’s mission, values, and culture at all times
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
Qualifications
AA or BA Degree preferred, or High School Diploma and the passing of the Navigator Instructional Employee Assessment exam
Commitment to student success and learning
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
Reliance on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions
Desire to improve professionally, open to receiving coaching and feedback
Flexible to changing work environment; always presents with a positive attitude
Ability to read and write simple correspondence
Possesses effective communication skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages
