General Notes
Assistant Academic Coordinator or Academic Coordinator may be hired based on experience, qualifications and candidate selected for the position. Additional hours may be required to include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This job is not suitable for remote work and is expected to work regular on-site hours.
Purpose
Assist in coordination of academic support, degree planning, and campus integration for students. Provide direct student academic support, utilizing Athletics and Campus resources. Provide support to the Academics staff in implementing policies and procedures and administering programs related to academics.
Responsibilities
* Develop knowledge of degree plans and academic programs required to assist students in the formulation of class schedules that meet specific degree requirements and promote progress toward degree. Connect students with faculty, college advisors, and University resources for major selection, internal transfer applications, degree planning, academic support, applying to graduate, and career preparation. Ensure students engage in the academic advising and registration process. (25%)
* With Academic Services staff, oversee successful academic onboarding. Help students understand institutional and NCAA academic requirements from initial enrollment through graduation. Develop knowledge of policies and procedures for documenting degree progress and certifying eligibility. (20%)
* Monitor student academic performance and provide individual status updates to Academic Coordinators and Directors. Assist in the development and implementation of individualized academic support plans with Academic Services staff. Continuously evaluate and monitor students' progress to ensure appropriate academic support is in place. (20%)
* Provide direct academic support to students and collaborate with Academic Coordinators, Learning Specialists and part-time staff to create and maintain a positive and effective learning environment. Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential student academic files. Communicate routinely, professionally, and effectively with students, coaches, and staff, maintaining a student-focused perspective. (15%)
* Assist in meetings with prospective students in the recruiting process to discuss academic opportunities and resources, in accordance with NCAA rules and departmental policies. Engage in ongoing professional development regarding student learning and academic success. Participate in interviewing and training processes of part-time Academic Support staff (e.g., tutors). Engage in ongoing professional development regarding student learning and academic success. Assist in the development and administration of academic programs as required by Directors. (10%)

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member with sensitive and confidential information. Dedication to learning-centered environment and commitment to developing student autonomy. Demonstrated professional boundaries. At least one year experience with an NCAA academic services program.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree. Professional experience in higher education advising, teaching, or academic support programming. Experience with study skills development and academic support programming.
