DESCRIPTION
Amazon Ads is seeking a hybrid Art Director / Visual Designer to join our fast-paced, customer-obsessed Creative Studio team. This 50/50 role blends high-level conceptual direction with hands-on design execution, ideal for a strategic creative who thrives in both thinking and making. You will help build high-quality design assets that bring our brand to life across digital, motion, and presentation platforms.
The ideal candidate has a strong design foundation, a sharp eye for detail, and a proven ability to lead creative initiatives-guiding cross-functional teams, owning design systems, and advocating for brand integrity at every touchpoint. This role balances creative leadership and project-level execution, requiring both vision and precision.
Key job responsibilities
Art Direction (50%):
* Translate marketing strategies into strong, on-brand visual concepts across digital and motion design
* Lead visual critiques and provide clear, actionable feedback to both internal designers and agency/production partners
* Ensure consistent visual quality across all deliverables, aligning with brand guidelines
* Act as a proxy for the Creative Director in feedback loops and approvals
* Champion design best practices, structure SOPs, and mentor junior talent across creative standards
Hands-on visual design (50%):
* Design branded promotional graphics, presentations, digital layouts (web, social, email), and motion graphics
* Build and maintain scalable templates and design systems to drive efficiency and consistency
* Fulfill high-priority design requests with speed and quality, juggling multiple concurrent projects
* Animate directly within PowerPoint when needed, bringing decks to life with engaging motion
* Manage and prioritize design requests using tools like Workfront, ensuring effective resource allocation
Qualifications:
* Set experience art directing for photo and video preferred
* Solid understanding of typography, layout, hierarchy, and visual storytelling
* Excellent communication, time management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
* Strategic thinker with a bias for action and ownership
* Comfortable navigating ambiguity and creating clarity through structure and design
* Demonstrated ability to scale systems, enforce brand governance, and optimize creative workflows

About the team
The Creative Studio is a robust, elastic, full-service solution for Amazon Ads Marketing global creative needs. Our centralized team provides access to in-house, outsourced, and off-shore production resources for all project types as well as the tools and processes to move at scale while maintaining controllership over brand standards.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* 5+ years of design experience
* Have an available online portfolio
* Proficiency in Figma, PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Suite (including After Effects and Premiere)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Motion design or animation skills within PowerPoint and After Effects

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $108,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
