Job Title: Area Sales Manager – Aurangabad
Role Overview
The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is responsible for overseeing sales operations and driving revenue
growth within the assigned territory—Aurangabad. This role involves managing distributor and retailer
networks, achieving sales targets, implementing strategic sales initiatives, and ensuring customer
satisfaction. The ASM acts as a key point of contact between the company and the market, helping to
expand market presence while maintaining strong business relationships with partners and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Planning & Execution
● Develop and execute territory sales plans to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual targets.
● Identify new business opportunities, expand distribution channels, and improve market penetration.
● Monitor sales trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to adjust strategies as needed.
Distributor & Retailer Management
● Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, retailers, and channel partners.
● Ensure smooth operations at the distributor level including timely order placements, stock
management, and collections.
● Monitor distributor performance and resolve escalations in coordination with internal teams.
Team Supervision & Development
● Supervise and motivate field sales executives, providing them with guidance, training, and support.
● Conduct regular market visits and joint working to assess team performance and provide
constructive feedback.
Market Intelligence
● Collect and report insights on competitor activities, pricing strategies, product launches, and
customer preferences.
● Suggest product or promotional improvements based on market feedback.
Sales Reporting & Analysis
● Track and analyze sales performance against targets using reporting tools.
● Prepare weekly and monthly sales reports with actionable insights.
● Recommend and implement corrective measures to bridge performance gaps.
Promotions & Visibility
● Execute local marketing initiatives, product promotions, and schemes in coordination with the
marketing team.
● Ensure proper brand visibility and merchandising at retail touchpoints.
Skills and Qualifications
Education
● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
Experience
● 4–10 years of experience in channel sales, preferably in FMCG, publishing, or a related industry.
Core Skills
● Strong leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
● Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
● Good understanding of sales forecasting and territory management.
● Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with CRM tools is a plus.
● Fluency in Marathi and Hindi is preferred for regional communication.
