Summary

The Arcade Technician must be able to install, maintain and repair both mechanical and circuitry issues in arcade game machines. This involves transporting machines and assembling them by using meters, electrical parts, hand tools and soldering irons. The Arcade Technician installs and sets up new games and equipment. Arcade Game Technician Responsibilities: Arcade technicians have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include: Operating and troubleshooting arcade games, pinball machines, or other coin operated machines Performing regular maintenance on machines to ensure they continue to operate properly Providing technical support to customers who are having issues with their game or machine, including troubleshooting any problems they may be having Installing new games or machines in locations such as restaurants, bars, laundromats, convenience stores, and arcades Repairing damaged equipment by replacing parts such as monitors, joysticks, circuit boards, speakers, etc. Maintaining inventory of game parts and supplies, such as tokens and balls for arcade games Creating detailed records of all maintenance activities performed on equipment Performing repairs on game software bugs or glitches when needed Repairing damaged machines by replacing broken parts such as lights, wiring, monitors, speakers, joysticks, boards, etc. Arcade Game Technician Requirements: The following are some of the requirements to become an arcade technician: Education: Most arcade technicians are required to have at least a high school diploma or GED. Some employers may prefer candidates who have completed some college coursework in electronics or computer repair. Training & Experience: Most employers require candidates to have at least six months of experience in a related role. Some employers may prefer candidates who have at least one year of experience. On-the-job training is often part of the first few weeks of employment. New arcade technicians will learn about the specific games and systems the arcade has and how to maintain them. They will also learn about the organization’s safety procedures and any other necessary information. Certifications & Licenses: Certifications are not usually a requirement to become a arcade game technician, but they can make you a more competitive candidate when applying for jobs.
