In this role you will serve as a key technical member of the cross-functional Powerwall Product & Applications Engineering team, with the mission to create the best residential energy storage product in the world. You will work at the intersection between Engineering Design and Testing teams, and global Powerwall Sales, Deployment, and Service teams. Scope of work will include electrical, mechanical, and software elements and translating these into creative solutions to improve customer experience, increase product reliability, and drive product excellence.
Ability to flexibly apply product expertise and technical reasoning to a variety of projects and processes is a must. Excellent written and verbal communication are a must. * Technical contact for internal/external customers, articulate how Tesla's technology would be deployed in various applications
* Collaborate with engineering design, development, and management teams to provide product design feedback and improvements
* Customer/Installation champion of product functionality from concept, production, service, and end life cycle
* Evaluate residential applications for solar, EV charging, and energy storage systems (electrical, mechanical, and compliance)
* Develop process documentation to support product evaluation and deployments.
* Validate user experience, new features, and third-party product integrations
* Manage integration and product pilots in person and/or remotely
* Research, define, and disseminate requirements from the market, while coordinating with business team members
* Collect feedback from install, quality, service, and sales team members around the globe
* Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
* 1 - 3 years prior engineering experience. Project management and organization experience
* Understanding of AC and DC power systems, electrical, and mechanical diagrams
* Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals - mechanical, electrical, and thermal
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD and understanding of construction drawings preferred
* Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), IEC, or other international electrical code guidelines preferred
* Hands-on experience with electrical wiring, construction, or product assemblies preferred
* Experience with data analysis and manipulation (SQL) preferred
* Knowledge of battery pack architecture and inverter technology preferred
