Summary

Application Security Architect (Runtime Security) - Remote working in USA

Join a cutting-edge cybersecurity start-up building a formally verified trusted computing architecture that leverages hypervisor-based introspection to detect and neutralize threats across Edge to Cloud environments. As an Application Security Architect, you'll design, prototype, and develop innovative runtime defences that push the boundaries of proactive threat detection and prevention. You'll be part of a lean, high-impact team, contributing directly to the next evolution in system security.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and deeply understand common application runtimes (Python, Java, JavaScript, etc.) and the threats targeting them.
  • Architect and implement security protection mechanisms across user space and Linux kernel space, using tools like eBPF, seccomp, or custom kernel modules.
  • Build both rapid prototypes and production-ready components to detect and prevent exploits, vulnerabilities, and anomalous behaviors.
  • Develop secure solutions across cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) as well as private data centers and hybrid deployments.
  • Collaborate with system engineers, cloud architects, and infrastructure teams to embed security into every layer of the stack.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in application security, runtime monitoring, or enterprise-grade threat prevention.
  • Deep technical expertise in how application runtimes work and how they’re attacked—and the creativity to defend them.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages: Python, Java, Go, Rust, and C/C++.
  • Familiarity with modern backend frameworks like Django, Spring, Flask, NestJS, or ASP.NET.
  • Experience with Linux kernel internals, Linux application development, and containerized services (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Proven experience building or securing cloud-native applications in AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with microservice architectures and distributed systems.
  • Hands-on knowledge of AI/ML in security applications.
  • Expertise with Linux kernel security monitoring or advanced instrumentation tools like eBPF.
  • Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, observability frameworks, or custom introspection tooling.
