The Utility Systems & Solutions business in Siemens' Electrification & Automation business unit oversees the expansion and advancement of EA's Utility and Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) markets. Within its comprehensive product portfolio, one finds an array of offerings, such as medium voltage switchgear (AIS & GIS), Outdoor Circuit Breakers, MV Control, Power Equipment Centers, Overhead distribution products, low voltage motor control centers, photovoltaic (PV) Inverters, and supplementary MV and LV products. These elements are consistently integrated into fullfledged electrical packaged solutions deployed in substations, power plants, and renewable energy power generation projects.
We are looking for an Application Engineer for our Overhead Switch, Recloser & Fusesaver products. This position will be remote, supporting product produced in our Heber Springs, AR location.
Overview:
The Application Engineer will play a significant role in business generation of the EA Business Unit by preparing comprehensive technical and commercial proposals and solutions that best fit our customer needs, while ensuring competitive pricing. They will work closely with Siemens Sales and Business Development teams to prepare offers supporting customers in the utility, industrial, and construction markets on technical, contractual, and commercial issues. The Engineer delivers expert engineering services with minimal guidance, adeptly interpreting customer drawings and specifications for manufacturing or related products. This role also actively collaborates with the Sales & Business Development teams during project negotiations. They excel at deciphering project plans, one-lines, three-lines, schematics, and specifications to configure systems, offer technical support, and craft compelling commercial proposals. Moreover, they extend invaluable post-order engineering assistance, ensuring seamless integration of the product into the customer's network, and facilitating the commissioning process.
Responsibilities:
* Review of Customer specifications, commercial / technical documents, and product requirements.
* Identify and define preliminary scope of work for a complete solution that fits the Customer specifications.
* Generate engineered proposals to our customers for projects involving Overhead Distribution Products, including Switches, Compact Modular Reclosers and Fusesavers 2
* Prepare layout and single line drawings at a minimum, to demonstrate the idea of the intended scope of work as needed.
* Create quotations using product configurator tools and secure required approvals.
* Engage in Customer discussions by supporting the Business Development and Sales teams.
* Collaborate with internal departments and Sales teams to negotiate and secure contracts.
* Participates in tracking complex orders to ensure that equipment, cost, and delivery objectives are met by responding to customers promptly.
* Participates in recommending alternatives or changes to complex customer specifications and/or processes to ensure stronger alignment with existing products solutions.
* Facilitation of order entry front-end personnel; order and price reconciliation and other customer requested functions as required.
* Provide before and after sales support for Overhead products as needed

Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
* 3+ years engineering experience in an EPC, engineering, manufacturing, utility, or industrial environment.
* Proven experience in a similar role, with a focus on recloser equipment or overhead and distribution networks.
* Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to provide effective and timely solutions to technical issues.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for training and customer interactions.
* Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
* Experience with the design and application of electrical power distribution products, systems, and delivery.
* Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL and NEMA standards for power distribution applications and the best practices.
* Ability to analyze customer's technical documentation to interpret and apply appropriate product offerings to meet their expectations in a cost-effective and timely manner.
* Salesforce knowledge to receive and track work assignments.
* PC skills including Microsoft Office tools and willingness to learn product configuration / pricing applications.
* LOA process to receive pricing approval.
* Strong technical skills and proficiency with multiple engineering design software tools.
* Financial knowledge to understand and participate in ongoing business planning and support
Preferred Qualifications:
* Knowledge / experience with Siemens Switches, Reclosers and Fusesaver products.
* Good communications skills to communicate with internal and external customers effectively and accurately.
* Experience in the design and application of electrical distribution products
* Basic knowledge and experience evaluating Single line drawings, schematics, relay protection & control schemes, communication network diagrams and related engineering documents.
* Excellent collaboration, leadership, and decision-making skills in a team environment, and demonstrated ability to perform and prioritize multiple, simultaneous tasks while maintaining excellent customer service.

* The pay range for this position is $60,340 - $103,440. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
