Title: Application Developer, Backend

Duration: 12 month remote contract

Hourly Pay: $40-55/hr

Schedule: Mon-Fri day shift

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Application Developer specializing in backend data engineering. The ideal candidate will work closely with application developers and data scientists to ensure seamless data integration and efficient data workflows. This role requires deep SQL experience, along with proficiency in Python, Git, and CI/CD pipelines. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams are a must.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems that support data processing and storage
• Leverage your expertise in database management, ETL processes, and data governance to help build robust web applications for key stakeholder reporting
• Design, develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures for performance and scalability
• Support application developers by ensuring backend data is structured and accessible for frontend use
• Utilize Git for version control and collaborative development
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with industry best practices
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical guidance

Required:

• 2+ years industry experience (or equivalent experience) in a software engineering or web development role utilizing agile methodologies in a complex IT environment
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure)
• Advanced SQL knowledge for performantly querying large datasets to hydrate frontend applications
• Proficiency in Python and Git to collaborate in a team environment with shared modules and scripts
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including concisely conveying the root causes of problems, risks, and blockers
• Bachelor’s degree in a technology-focused discipline such as Computer Science or Software Engineering
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and SDLC best practices
• Knowledge of ETL processes and data pipeline development
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Recommended:

• Experience with healthcare data, or large volumes of data (big data, wide data)
• Experience with Python-based Data Visualization systems such as Dash Enterprise
• Experience standing up reporting-focused web applications
• Experience working in an Agile development environment
