The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to support the ongoing implementation and support of complex technology solutions in an Oracle 19c database environment. The successful candidate will provide a technical role in maintaining DJJ Oracle databases and application servers to meet agency strategic goals, implementing effective support operations using agency approved technologies, and execute database administration tasks to maintain the agency's database and application server capabilities. The incumbent will participate in Database Administration efforts on an ongoing basis. Additional duties include assisting in the design and planning of projects and standards and supporting team efforts to continually improve skills and delivery practices.
Minimum Qualifications
* Ability to interpret data models and to develop database structures.
* Ability to use standard diagramming techniques to design and develop computer data models.
* Ability to implement and troubleshoot programming changes and modifications.
* Ability to program, configure, manage, and maintain the operation of complex relational databases.
* Ability to develop and manipulate large, complex data sets.
* Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures & techniques.
* Knowledge of data integrity methods and techniques.
* Ability to install, maintain, modify, and upgrade database software.
* Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions of approaches to problems.
* Knowledge of Change Management principles
* Oracle DBA: Considerable experience administering Oracle databases in a Linux environment
* Oracle Database Management (19c+): Extensive experience managing Oracle databases using multi-tenant architecture (CDB/PDB), backups/restores, PL/SQL, OEM, RMAN, Data Guard, and handling production environments.
* Backup and Recovery: Strong experience in backing up and recovering large databases from RMAN online backups
Additional Considerations
* Experience with ASP.NET, MVC 5, C#, RDLC Reports, VB.NET, Bootstrap v5, JQUERY 3.7, Datatables.NET.
* .Net Web Services: Experience with .Net web services.
* Cloud Experience: Proven understanding of cloud environments (OCI/AWS/Azure) and managing large-scale environments on cloud platforms.
* OCI Expertise: Hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and migrating applications from on-premises to OCI.
* Demonstrated knowledge / training in Software applications, engineering, or equivalent experience.
* OCI / AWS - Developer / DBA
