The API Software Developer (Back-end) role involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining back-end applications and APIs using Microsoft Azure and common back-end frameworks. The developer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, optimize performance, and ensure scalability and reliability. Key skills include proficiency in C#, .NET, RESTful APIs, relational databases, and implementing best practices for code quality and security.
Key Responsibilities
Follow technical requirements to design, develop, test, and maintain application back ends and APIs leveraging Microsoft Azure and common back-end frameworks.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design API solutions that meet business needs.
Create and enhance existing code implementing industry best practices around software design patterns to ensure the codebase is maintainable and scalable.
Optimize APIs and backends for performance, scalability, and reliability.
Design and management of relational database schemas, performance, and queries.
Troubleshoot and resolve API and backend related issues in a timely manner.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes.
Document API processes, configurations, and best practices.
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure our API solutions remain cutting-edge.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) and able to demonstrate high proficiency in programming fundamentals.
0-5 years experience
At least 2 years of proven working experience as a back-end developer, API developer or similar role.
Experience with Microsoft Azure services, including Azure API Management, App Services and Azure Functions.
Skilled in back-end frameworks such as .NET and ORM Wrappers like Entity Framework
Skilled in C#
Skilled in building RESTful APIs, SOAP, and other web service protocols.
Skilled in relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL). Ability to model, build, and manage relational schemas and performance. Ability to create and optimize queries to meet application requirements.
Skilled in recognizing, applying, and implementing design patterns and best practices for API and backend web development to enhance code quality, maintainability, and scalability. (MVC, REST, Microservices, SOLID principles, Event Driven, DDD, Asynchronous & Parallel programming, etc.)
Fundamental knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).
Experience implementing security best practices in API development.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with automated testing. Knowledge and experience applying multiple levels of testing (Unit, Integration, and End to End)
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments.
Experience monitoring & logging application performance in cloud environment
Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
