Description:
Arlington Heights School District 25 has an anticipated opening for a part-time (.5 FTE) Speech and Language Pathologist at Ivy Hill Elementary School for the 2025-26 school year.
This position will be working with low incidence populations in both self contained and general education settings.
Job Summary:
The candidate should have experience and a demonstrated ability to:
* Work with a range of low incidence disabilities (cognitive impairments and autism spectrum disorders)
* Provide direct service to individuals and groups of students in a self contained program and general education settings
* Be comfortable with a wide range of strategies and demonstrate knowledge and use of assistive technology /augmentative communication devices
* Use classroom observations in order to identify strengths and weaknesses in the language abilities of elementary aged students
* Use a wide range of tools, tasks and instruments to assist with identifying strengths and weaknesses of students
* Communicate well both orally and in written form to team members and sensitively to parents
* Work collaboratively with the classroom teachers and other team members
* Make solid, classroom-based recommendations based on research
* Resolve conflicts, problem solve difficult issues, appreciate differences of opinion
* Maintain professional demeanor, complete responsibilities and tasks
* Complete necessary IEP and evaluation paperwork, follow required procedures
* Collaborate with parents, private therapists, and other agencies to gain and share information

Qualifications:
* Possess a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Speech-Language Pathology Endorsement.
* Preferred candidates will have a strong diagnostic background and speak a second language.
* CFY supervision is available.
Salary:
This position is part of the Arlington Teachers' Association (ATA) professional agreement. The salary is dependent upon full-time years of experience and education level. It ranges from BA (+0 graduate hours) and no full-time years of experience ($51,984.00) to MA (+32 graduate hours beyond the MA degree) and 7 years of full-time teaching experience ($65,928.00).
