Job Description:
The Office of Career Development in the School of International Service (SIS) at American University provides career advising, programming, and resources to support career education and mentorship for upper-level undergraduates and graduate students pursuing careers in international affairs. The SIS Office of Career Development is seeking an Alumni Research Assistant (Federal Work Study) student position who will be responsible for supporting Graduation Census data collection, alumni information management, and alumni engagement research. Responsibilities
- Support data gathering and analysis for the annual Graduation Census survey.
- Following up with graduation census survey responses, researching alumni on LinkedIn, and calling alumni to confirm their information.
- Conduct outreach to new alumni contacts and manage alumni data systems, including researching alumni for targeted programming.
- Maintain an up-to-date record of alumni engagement, tracking participation and volunteer information.
- Work with the office Data Assistant, Program Coordinator, and Assistant Director to ensure comprehensive data management of alumni engagement and student engagement with alumni throughout the semester.
- Work with the office Communications and Program Assistant to create and disseminate the monthly alumni engagement emails.
Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work
- Part-time.
- 10-15 hours per week.
- Currently hiring for the Fall 2025 semester with a strong preference for continuation in Spring 2026.
Salary Range
- $17.95 - $18.50 per hour.
Required Education And Experience
- Must be eligible for Federal Work Study.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Experience with data collection projects and qualitative data management.
- Experience and passion for conducting independent research and problem solving.
- Experience communicating orally and in writing with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
- High level of professionalism and exceptional interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
- Self-starter and team player able to implement projects independently using strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Education And Experience
- Upper-level undergraduate student; graduate student preferred.
