Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Graduate Engineer to join our Aviation service team in Appleton, Wisconsin. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.
Our ideal candidate will be graduating in the near future and have some civil engineering internship experience. Candidates must have a willingness to perform a variety of tasks supporting various project types and project managers.
This position gives you the chance to work with an energetic aviation staff on a variety of projects such as airport planning, airfield layout and design, safety plans, airfield civil design and construction projects, facilities design and infrastructure, and environmental studies. Westwood’s Aviation group has a diversified range of projects that require preparing a variety of civil engineering and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) planning reports, studies and plans for large complex projects in a timely and proficient nature to produce solutions for our client’s success.
Duties And Responsibilities
Work as a key member of an airport design team under the direction of a Project Engineer/Project Manager. Job duties may include, but are not limited to:
Research and evaluation of data
Conduct field reviews and other assessments
Prepare detailed engineering calculations
Assist with the creation and submission of technical reports, presentations and exhibits
Prepare detailed construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including horizontal and vertical alignments; plan and profile; utility design and relocation; streetscape and roadway improvements; signing, striping and signalization
Prepare construction cost estimates/quantity takeoffs
Coordinate with internal team members, government entities, utility service providers and subconsultants
Manage task assignments for budget and schedule adherence
Perform reviews of all work product for accuracy
Ensures division, regional, and company values, policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey service
Lead by example – display solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism
Required Skills
Working knowledge of aviation planning, programming, design and construction is a plus.
Preferred candidate will have working experience with FAA Advisory Circulars and understanding of Bureau of Aeronautics policies and procedures.
Construction and estimating experience for public infrastructure projects is a plus.

Proficient in Autodesk Civil3D and Microsoft Office applications
Proficient in applying ADA/PROWAG criteria in public infrastructure design
Competent technical skills required to complete engineering tasks
Ability to delegate assignments and determine methods and procedures
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Required Experience
0-2 years of relevant work experience
BS in Civil Engineering
EIT and desire to be a Licensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in Wisconsin
