Global Logistics Support Services, (GLSS), an S³, Inc. company, has an immediate opening for an Aircraft Mechanic II (Electrician) for one of our Aircraft Repair operations at Sheppard AFB Wichita, TX.

Description

Military experience is a plus.

This mechanic will apply a combination of experience to perform the modification of the T-6A aircraft to install the Automated Backup Oxygen System. Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is.

Responsibilities

  • This mechanic maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
  • Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies the required expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.
  • Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate-to-complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufacturers’ manuals.
  • Applies a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts.
  • Requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repairs.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory; must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.
  • This job requires working knowledge of technical publications.
  • The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from a supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft-relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
  • Be able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules for assigned projects.
  • May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics, or other aircraft systems related disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Must have experience with the installation of electrical-related TCTO/wiring modification installations, including wiring harness installation/repair.
  • Airframes and Powerplants (A&P) certification with three or more years of experience is desired but not required.
  • Avionics technician with extensive experience with wiring harness troubleshooting and replacement is an acceptable alternative to an Aircraft Electrician.
  • Experience utilizing detailed blueprints or instructions is desired.
  • Must provide their own common tools/tool kit.
