S³, Inc. is seeking an Air Force Business Developer to grow our business at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. The position is in Huntsville but there will be travel to Wright-Patterson as needed.

Job Description

The Air Force Business Developer serves as the primary corporate representative for expanding business opportunities within the Dayton, Ohio defense community, with a strategic focus primarily on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB). This role is pivotal in establishing and maintaining relationships with senior leadership across the Air Force, Space Force, and other national defense organizations to drive business growth and capture new opportunities.

The ideal candidate will leverage their deep understanding of Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), AFMC Subordinate Units, the Air Force Lifecycle Management Center (AFLCMC), the Department of the Air Force Battle Network PEO (C3BM), and other organizations to refine and implement a corporate defense strategy that aligns with emerging USAF and USSF priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Engagement & Capture Planning:
    • Develop and execute pursuit and capture strategies targeting WPAFB organizations, including AFMC, AFRL, and AFLCMC.
    • Identify and assess new business opportunities within the Dayton defense ecosystem.
    • Prepare capture plans in accordance with corporate policies and industry best practices.

  • Business Development & Industry Engagement:
    • Construct Bid and Proposal (B&P) estimates to secure internal resources for customer engagement.
    • Deliver corporate briefings to key stakeholders, including USAF, USSF, and DoD leadership.
    • Attend Industry Days, professional networking events, and government-hosted forums to identify potential partnerships.
    • Identify Sources Sought, RFIs, and RFPs to position the company for competitive opportunities.

  • Contract & Program Management:
    • Oversee all aspects of contract execution within the Wright-Patterson portfolio, ensuring compliance with contract terms and performance metrics.
    • Develop and implement measurable success criteria to track progress and optimize contract performance.
    • Manage costs, schedules, and resources to maintain project alignment with budgetary constraints.
    • Support the company’s Mentor-Protégé program, fostering collaboration with emerging defense contractors.

  • Talent Acquisition & Workforce Development:
    • Identify, recruit, and retain highly skilled personnel to support contract requirements.
Qualifications

  • Senior Military Leadership Experience:
    • Retired Senior Officer or Government Civilian with extensive leadership experience in the Wright-Patterson AFB community.
    • Joint service experience preferred.

  • Educational & Professional Background:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Master’s Degree preferred).
    • 20+ years of management or business development experience, with 15+ years in defense-related roles.
    • Expertise in Battle Command, Management, and Networks (preferred).

  • Strategic & Business Acumen:
    • Proven ability to engage independently with senior military and defense leaders to identify and pursue business opportunities.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience interfacing with Flag Officers and Senior Executive Government personnel.
    • Demonstrated success in developing and executing business strategies within the Air Force and Space Force defense sectors.
    • Secret Security Clearance (TS preferred)
    • PMP Certified (preferred)
