About PoolDeck

We’re building the POOL where your visual assets are automatically labeled and searchable—and the DECK where they come to life. Backed by research at Oxford and InnovateUK, PoolDeck is addressing pain points around creative workflows. Our product helps designers, researchers, and creative teams make sense of massive image libraries by automating annotation, surfacing hidden metadata, and plugging straight into tools like Figma, Slides, and Notion. The right candidate has the potential to grow with the company with potential for long-term involvement with an early stage startup.

What You'll Do

As an AI Engineer Intern, you’ll work at the intersection of product and engineering—contributing directly to the core AI that powers PoolDeck.

  • Build and prototype AI/ML-powered features for image annotation and metadata generation
  • Research and apply advances in multi-modal AI (e.g., CLIP, BLIP, GPT, RAG, agentic models)
  • Design prompt architectures and embeddings that make images more discoverable
  • Explore real user pain points and translate them into technical solutions
  • Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to build tools creatives will actually use
  • Present findings, demos, and technical insights to the founding team regularly

Requirements

  • Strong foundation in machine learning, data structures, and algorithms
  • Experience or academic background in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Familiarity with LLMs, embeddings, or vision models (CLIP, BLIP, etc.)
  • Curiosity for how AI can support creative workflows
  • A user-focused mindset: Usability is central to our core product, so either experience with or interest in learning about clean UX, fast feedback loops, and real-world value
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working in a fast-paced, startup-style environment
  • Bonus: Experience with design tools (Figma, Notion, Adobe) or interest in the creative industry

Why Join Us

  • Gain hands-on experience building and shipping AI features to production
  • Work directly with founders from Oxford and prior $230M+ exits
  • Be part of a team shaping a new frontier of visual intelligence
