About Corner

Corner is the first personalized map that learns your taste and helps you find where people like you are going. We are collecting the sentimental and demographic data on places that fundamentally do not exist in the world today. This unlocks a whole new way for users to discover the world around them. From the cafe that becomes your daily ritual to the place you take someone on a first date — we help people find their place.

Our team is intentionally small — just 6 people total with 3 iOS engineers and a CTO handling backend. We believe in extreme ownership and outsized impact. Each person who joins becomes a significant percentage of our company and shapes our trajectory.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll be developing Corner’s global place platform which is built on an AI understanding of places, their vibes, and the users who go there. All our app experiences are powered by this foundation. Practically, that means enhancing our semantic search capabilities and personalization system using LLMs and classical ML techniques.

You’ll be working on the full backend stack - from evaluating models and writing prompts to iterating on new product features.

This will entail:

• taking concepts from R&D to production
• building ETL pipelines to collect place data (from user inputs and web scrapping), clean it, and integrate it with our place index
• use text / image embedding techniques to enhance the accuracy of searches
• Building RAG and evaluating the results
• implementing recommendation system using both novel and traditional techniques
• convert high level product goals into engineering problems.

Only apply if:

• you’re proficient in Node+Typescript / PostgreSQL / Python
• demonstrated experience with LLM ops (RAG, prompt engineering, vector stores)
• you’re obsessed with AI and its practical applications— you use Cursor/Claude/ChatGPT daily to augment your capabilities
• you’ve worked on production grade systems and know how to optimize them for scale

• someone who cares deeply about solving the problem of place discovery for themselves

• Target Salary: $100,000 - $180,000 depending on experience
