About The Adult Forensic Psychiatrist Position The Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry seeks a board-certified/eligible forensic psychiatrist to join our clinical faculty, working within the Psychiatry Department at Austin State Hospital (ASH) under the direction of the ASH Medical Director. This position offers a unique opportunity to provide patient-centered forensic psychiatric care, contribute to academic excellence, and support innovative clinical, educational, and research initiatives at ASH, a critical institution for the delivery of mental health services in Texas. Student loan forgiveness is available for faculty of the Department of Psychiatry through the Texas Mental Health Professionals Loan Repayment Program. Austin State Hospital is a state-operated psychiatric facility providing inpatient care and forensic services to individuals with complex mental health needs. ASH is at the forefront of delivering evidence-based psychiatric care in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The selected candidate will play a vital role in treating individuals in forensic psychiatric settings while contributing to the educational mission of Dell Medical School through the supervision and mentorship of medical students, psychiatry residents, and fellows. Additionally, Dell Medical School anticipates the launch of a Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship in the near future, and this faculty member will play a key role in its development and implementation.
