JOB DESCRIPTIONS:Provides day-to-day operational oversight of the NKI Institutional Review Board (IRB) in support of the IRB Director. Oversees the research protocol submission and review process. Supervises IRB Analysts and ensures consistency of IRB minutes. Serves as a content area expert and resource on matters related to human subjects' research program policies, procedures, and activities. Manages Full board, exempt, and expedited review process. This individual will be required to review all exempt research and ensure workflow is consistent with local, state, and federal regulations and guidance. This individual will be required to manage internal quality assurance of IRB meeting minutes.JOB DUTIES:
Oversee operation of IRB Analyst
Exempt Determination Officer
Expertise in New York State Office of Mental Hygiene Law pertaining to prisoner status, and CPL coding across OMH forensic facilities
Monitoring and periodic assessment of all IRB records; conducting periodic internal audits of all IRB records.
Excellent analytical and independent problem-solving skills, organizational, coordination and prioritization skills
Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources to produce succinct, detail-oriented, and accurate documents, reports, and announcementsTelecommuting is currently allowed at 50% at the discretion of the supervisor but is subject to change by the Governor's Office and the NYS Office of Mental Health.JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
B.A./B.S. degree.
A minimum of 4 years of experience with the review of social behavioral and biomedical protocols
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Background Investigation/Justice Center Review Requirements:Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs.
