Summary

The Gas Permit Administrative Support Specialist will function as an administrative support role for gas permitting in their assigned area. The selected candidate will have the option to work remotely as long as Consumers Energy and/or department policies and/or needs allow. Occasional travel to other Consumers Energy Service Centers may be required to support those areas and attend company meetings.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and utilize SAP tasks for each permit: Ensure all tasks related to permits are tracked and managed efficiently.
  • Complete check requests/bond requests & invoicing: Handle jobs that have fees come in after the fact, including calculation of permit fees.
  • Notify city/state/township of construction dates: Communicate construction schedules to relevant authorities.
  • Start notices and completion notices: Issue notices for the start and completion of construction projects.
  • Database management:
  • Permit Tracking: Ensure understanding of all permits applied for and received.
  • Inspection Escrow Tracking: Track outstanding inspection escrows to ensure proper refunds.
  • Bond Tracking: Track outstanding bonds and ensure refunds are requested and obtained.
  • Communicate with Restoration department: Coordinate clean-up schedules.
  • Communicate with Scheduling department: Coordinate construction schedules.
  • Track and coordinate all permits and bonds: Quantify the annual amount of work and spend in this area.
  • Deliver and pick up permits at Permit Agency buildings: Handle physical delivery and collection of permits.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Skills and knowledge of building or utility design: Understanding of construction in the field and general engineering concepts.
  • Experience in administrative support roles: Familiarity with permit coordination and related administrative tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and databases efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills: Ability to communicate with various departments and external agencies.
  • Proficiency in SAP: Experience with SAP for tracking and managing tasks.
