The Health and Wellness program at Iona University is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, and student-focused adjunct instructor to teach one or more laboratory sections of HS 136 and HS 137 Human Anatomy and Physiology I and/or II during the 2025-2026 academic year (renewable per semester). This introductory course for nursing and health science majors covers basic anatomy and physiology of the human body. We are seeking a proactive, innovative, and engaging individual who can integrate various technologies into their teaching (i.e., Blackboard Ultra, Anatomage©, 3D4medical Anatomy©). The individual will teach demonstrating laboratory techniques and utilize materials including anatomy models.

Responsibilities Include

• Laboratory Instruction: Lead lab sessions, guiding students in hands-on exploration of anatomy and physiology topics such as skeletal, muscular, nervous, cardiovascular, and other major body systems.
• Assessment: Administer and grade lab assignments, quizzes, and practical exams to evaluate student understanding of course material.
• Student Support: Provide guidance and answer questions during lab sessions, fostering an engaging and supportive learning atmosphere.
• Safety Compliance: Uphold all safety standards and protocols in the lab, ensuring proper handling of equipment and specimens.
• Collaboration: Coordinate with lecture instructors to ensure lab activities reinforce course content and align with curriculum goals.
  
  

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s degree in Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, or a related field is required; candidates with relevant professional experience are encouraged to apply.
• Experience: Prior teaching or laboratory experience in anatomy and physiology at the college level is preferred.
• Skills: Proficiency in laboratory practices and safety, effective communication, and the ability to engage students in active learning.
• Commitment: A passion for teaching and a commitment to student success in a diverse academic environment.
