Responsibilities The Department of Engineering seeks an adjunct instructor for ENGR 323 Mechanics II. This course introduces advanced skills related to stress and strain associated with mechanical, structural, and geotechnical engineering. Other topics include internal state of stress, indeterminate analysis and stress transformations, deflection calculations, principles for design of mechanical/structural members, introduction to finite element analysis software, and application of common failure theories. The course is taken by students studying Civil, Mechanical, and Robotics Engineering. The course meets three mornings per week. Qualifications Advanced degree or significant experience in Engineering and/or the technical area relevant for Mechanical study. Candidates must evidence the potential for strong classroom teaching and positive student interaction and mentorship. The Program Messiah University's Engineering Department offers an ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree with concentrations in Biomedical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical and General Engineering. The University is presently offering discipline-specific majors in Biomedical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Robotics Engineering with final accreditation approval response coming soon. The Department Our twelve faculty, three full time technicians and over 270 students work on projects related to clean water access, alternative energy, technical resources for people living with disability, transportation, communications and biomedical instruments and processes in over eight developing countries in Africa, Central and South America.
