The Accounting Operations Deputy reports directly to the AFS Accounting Operations Director. Together, they lead a large team of 125 accounting professionals with a broad scope of responsibilities in seven distinct areas. In this leadership role, you will mentor, coach and develop staff to achieve individual and company goals through employee engagement, training and creation of career growth opportunities. You will be responsible for delivering operational excellence and the execution of 30 internal controls in six focus areas most critical to maintaining an approved Accounting System, including accounts payable, employee labor, subcontractor time, expense report compliance, and customer billing and cash collection. Each focus area requires specialty knowledge as they are unique with different customers, deliverables, challenges and regulatory (FAR, CAS, SBA, and state and local statutes) and contractual requirements. Responsibilities also include management of controls that ensure accurate recording of employee expenses in accordance with FAR; compliant employee payroll in accordance with state and local regulations; contractually compliant client billings; and timely payment of vendor and subcontractor costs, in accordance with payment terms and small business. The Accounting Operations Deputy will assist in the management of AFS cash flow through a high-volume of financial transactions to achieve quarterly targets and industry leading DSO, including the reporting to AFS leadership.
Additionally, this role supports external audits of financial statements and government accounting-related audits (DCAA and DCMA), which includes responding to audit inquiries supported by regulation; leading functional walkthroughs; and maintaining critical high-risk areas for a DCMA approved accounting system. Responsibilities also include partnering with Finance, Contracts Management, Facilities, Human Resources, Legal and Program Management extending to advisement on accounting treatment related to various matters. The Accounting Operations Deputy will identify and lead improvement initiatives related to Controllership to drive higher process performance, reduced audit risk, cost savings, and improved employee experience.
Here's what you need:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
* 10+ years of finance operations experience
* Experience leading within a shared service model
* Proven ability to lead large teams, collaborate and manage projects cross functionally
* Process improvement, automation and simplification experience
Bonus Points if you have:
* Government Contractor experience; Familiarity with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)
* Costpoint experience
* Experience working with DCAA / DCMA

The base pay range for this position in these locations is shown below. Compensation for roles at Accenture Federal Services varies depending on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to office location, role, skill set and level of experience.
