Summary

Overview

The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial analysis and reporting, supporting the company’s entertainment entity. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger preparation, financial reporting and analysis, tax filings, and budget/forecast activities.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable including preparation of weekly accounts payable cash flows and bank payments.
  • Manage daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/year-end financials & close process.
  • Prepare budgets & forecasting on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis.
  • Manage, analyze and ensure accuracy of Accounts Payable & Receivable financials and reporting.
  • Reconcile credit card accounts on a weekly and month-end basis.
  • Prepare and post journal entries for month-end closing.
  • Review and maintain an accurate general ledger chart of accounts.
  • Oversee and maintain detailed fixed asset schedule and records.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations for management review.
  • Generate accurate month end financial statements and financial package per the month-end close schedule.
  • Review and analyze monthly financials for significant fluctuations between budget, forecast and actual results. Prepare a written report of factors noted.
  • Prepare various schedules related to year-end, quarterly reviews and required reporting.
  • Manage proper organization of all accounting, sales, inventory, and distribution documentation.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with entity heads to review financials.
  • Prepare & audit distribution reporting ensuring accuracy and adhering to payment guidelines per contract.
  • Manage business registrations, sales & use, franchise, local, state & international tax filings.
  • Partner with department heads to ensure accurate and timely trade show registrations.
  • Analyze sales tax data from billing systems to ensure proper tax is collected and reflected on tax filings.
  • Maintain registrations and relationships with Registered Agents to ensure our company’s qualification to do business in all applicable states.
  • Ensure Customers Shipments outside of the US are in Compliance with the receiving Country’s Custom’s Shipping Laws and Regulations.
  • Manage VAT and other required registrations and filings for applicable international business.
  • Aid CPA firm on year-end tax return preparation.
  • Implement and maintain tax model and process improvements.
  • Assist in various sales and finance related software and software implementations.
  • Responsible for analyzing, creating, and developing fiscal policies, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain all confidential information in accordance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Accounting Manager position may supervise Senior or Staff Accountants. Prior supervisory experience preferred.


Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s Degree with five years of accounting experience or equivalent required. Thorough knowledge of general accounting including the application of general accounting theory required.


Language Skills

Must have excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and policies, governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. An ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, internal customers, vendors.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Broad conceptual judgment, initiative, and ability to deal with complex accounting issues are required.


Technical Skills

Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and Outlook. Must be proficient in Excel. Demonstrate ability to master new systems.
