Accounting Manager – Professional Services | Minneapolis (Hybrid)

$110,000 – $130,000 base + bonus | Hybrid Work (2–3 days remote/week)

Our Minneapolis-based professional services company is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our accounting function. This is a high-visibility leadership opportunity focused on driving operational excellence—not just reporting the numbers, but shaping how they come together.

What You'll Do

As the Accounting Manager, you’ll lead a team of 4–5 professionals responsible for the core accounting functions that keep the business running smoothly. From cash applications and billing to payables, fixed assets, and month-end close—you’ll be at the helm of a fast-paced, collaborative environment where accuracy, efficiency, and innovation are key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support daily accounting operations including accounts payable, billing, cash applications, and general ledger management.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop your team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the timely preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and fixed asset records.
  • Own the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain internal controls and streamline workflows to enhance data quality and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate across departments to communicate financial procedures and improve transaction-level processes.
  • Support audit preparation and tax-related documentation.
  • Drive insights through reporting dashboards and custom financial reports.
  • Assist with budgeting processes and help elevate financial visibility across the business.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CPA track preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a focus on operational functions.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop accounting teams.
  • Experience in the professional services sector strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with accounting platforms like Elite Enterprise, Aderant, Rippe LMS+, Chrome River, or similar systems.
  • Skilled at juggling multiple projects, tight deadlines, and shifting priorities with grace and professionalism.
