Summary

Under the direction of the VP Controller, SPS Health is seeking an analytically minded Accounting Manager who loves turning data into insight. As the VP Controller’s first line of support, you will own the monthly close, accrual, and reconciliation processes for several complex product lines across our growing organization. The Accounting Manager is also responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of the accounts receivable, accounts payable, credit and collection area, reconciliations and related accounting tasks across product lines.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close for assigned product lines—prepare, review, and post accruals, deferrals, and reclasses; manage the close calendar and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Mentor and lead accounting team – provide guidance and support to staff accountants to execute on department priorities and meet department goals while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Own balance‑sheet account reconciliations (cash, inventory, revenue, COGS, intercompany, payroll, etc.); investigate variances and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain robust data models that link operational metrics to financial outcomes; leverage Excel (Power Query), Power BI, or similar tools to automate and visualize results.
  • Provide first‑level analytical support to the Controller: perform revenue/margin analytics, trend analysis, and root‑cause investigations; summarize key insights for management.
  • Partner with FP&A to align actuals with forecasts, drive variance commentary, and refine accrual methodologies that improve forecast accuracy.
  • Liaise with external auditors; prepare PBC items and support technical research (GAAP, ASC 606, ASC 842, etc.).
  • Champion process standardization and automation; document, test, and enhance internal controls and SOPs.
  • Administer general ledger and sub‑ledger configurations; lead data validation during system upgrades or integrations and optimization of financial systems, including NetSuite.
  • Support ad‑hoc projects such as new product launches, M&A integrations, cost‑saving initiatives, and system implementations.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of information received and processed while following company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested and required.


Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required with minimum of five years of experience. Advanced credentials such as an MBA or CPA preferred. Proficient ability working in and utilizing the Microsoft Office suite of software required. Experience with Netsuite a plus.

Work Environment

This role is based in Denver, CO with attendance in the office expected 3 days a week with 2 days remote. Additional flexibility to be remote will be considered based on job performance. Occasional travel to corporate headquarters in Milwaukee, WI may be necessary with emphasis on travel for impact.
