Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to provide administrative and accounting support for the finance department. This role involves a mix of routine bookkeeping tasks and operational duties, ensuring efficient financial management across various entities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to adapt to evolving responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable Administration

  • Prepare and process payments, including vendor verification, expense allocation, and check authorization.
  • Start with non-vendor payments and gradually assume responsibility for full-cycle AP.
  • Assist in cash receipt reconciliations and ensure entries are accurately cataloged in QuickBooks.
  • Review utility charges and allocate them appropriately; notify the Director of required actions.

General Ledger & Bookkeeping

  • Perform light transaction allocations and support journal entry tasks (e.g., COGS, inventory, depreciation).
  • Help maintain accurate records across multiple LLCs in adherence with US GAAP standards.
  • Participate in monthly close procedures and assist in financial reporting.

Record Keeping & Maintenance

  • Assist in intake documentation and ensure all processes are accurately documented.
  • Maintain easily accessible, well-organized financial records and SOPs.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting Manager to ensure timely account reconciliation and support external audits as needed.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Previous bookkeeping experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
  • Proficiency with computers, tablets, and financial software (QuickBooks, Xero, Excel, etc.).
  • Must be able to accurately observe details at close range and interpret information on digital screens.
  • Reliable and punctual – must be able to arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
  • Comfortable discussing medical and recreational cannabis in a professional setting.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Must commit to working sober – we love cannabis, but we do not get high on the job.
  • This position is based on site and not eligible for remote commuting.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Previous experience with and ERP preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
