Summary

Who We Are:

STC is a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd. that was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rails and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.

As part of this project, we are currently looking for an Accounting Assistant to join our team.


What You Will Do:

  • Work closely with cost control, procurement, and subcontract administration teams to ensure project costs and vendor payments are processed accurately on a timely basis.
  • Manage project email box for incoming billings from vendors and maintain an invoice log file to track all invoice progresses.
  • Liaison with construction and other teams to verify accuracy of vendor invoices and obtain appropriate approvals for processing invoices.
  • Reconcile accounts with vendors and resolve discrepancy issues.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries, maintain good vendor relations, and solve problems.
  • Assist in posting Purchase Order Good Receipts in SAP.
  • Assist in processing payment run and communicate with AP department as required.
  • Assist with month end close & prepare necessary journal entries.

  • Assist in analyzing project cost reports by cost code to ensure correct cost codes are applied.
  • Assist with documentation and ensure continuous process improvements are applied within area of responsibility.
  • Assist with audits - financial, Internal control, client audit & tax.
  • Ad-hoc tasks assigned by manager and initiatives as required.


Experience You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, or Accounting.
  • 3 + years of experience in similar role; rail transit project or large-scale infrastructure (Hydro, Renewable Energy, Oil & Gas, Power, etc.) experience would be a strong asset.
  • Strong financial acumen and relevant financial skills, including quantitative problem solving.
  • Broad business knowledge, end-to-end thinking, and organizational awareness.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work with internal/ external stakeholders.
  • Ability to conduct business ethically and act with discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask.
  • A dedicated team player with exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with SAP, Business Objects and SharePoint are valued.
