Summary:

Formentera Operations is seeking an experienced accounting analyst to join our team. As an accounting analyst, you play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our oil and gas properties across multiple entities. This position involves maintaining various accounting activities, including several different operating expense accruals, workover accruals, ad valerom data collection and entries, advanced expense entries, and special projects. The accounting analyst collaborates with internal stakeholders to support decision-making processes, drive operational efficiency, and maintain accurate operating expenditures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in oil and gas accounting, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

·        Prepare accounting accrual entries on a monthly basis ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

·        Perform variance analysis and investigate discrepancies to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

·        Support external vendor and act as main point of contact for all Ad Valorem needs

·        Prepare and analyze account reconciliations relevant to accrual entries

·        Collaborate with other departments to provide accounting information to support internal stakeholders in making business decisions.

·        Support external audits providing documentation and explanations as needed to auditors.

·        Assist on special projects as needed.

Required Qualifications:

·        Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.

·        CPA certification a plus.

·        Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting with at least 1 year in the upstream oil and gas industry.

Physical Requirements:

·        Requires prolonged sitting

·        Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator 

·        Typically, office-based with standard working hours.

·        Occasional travel may be required for site visits or meetings with external auditors.

·        May involve periods of high stress, particularly during reporting cycles and audits.
