Posting Summary Job Title Accommodations Coordinator Division Student Affairs Office Department Student Disability Support Services Work Status Full Time Position Category Staff FLSA Exempt Pay Range Salary Range $70,000 - $75,000 / year Fund Source State Support Job Summary The Accommodations Coordinator will have multiple responsibilities, including coordinating the intake process for students seeking reasonable accommodations due to disability. A part of this process will be registering students with SDSS for reasonable accommodations. They will also maintain the database for all student cases. This position will support and manage in compliance with the federal law, state law, and University policies regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Job Duties Duties & Responsibilities: * Provide information to prospective students and families regarding the registration process with SDSS to receive accommodations. * Complete the intake process for a designated caseload of students. * Manage and update records in the appropriate database. * Communicate orally and in writing with students registered with SDSS concerning a broad range of concerns relative to their needs. * Collaborate with all office staff, as well as University officials in various departments throughout the campus. * Assist students and faculty/staff in understanding their legal responsibilities and rights. * Document communication and events by writing case notes in a confidential format. * Provide reports and data, as requested. * Provide support and education to students and employees seeking reasonable accommodations. * Provide support to faculty and departments on campus regarding disabilities, the ADA, and reasonable accommodations. * Answer general questions. * Escalate matters to the appropriate staff. * Work effectively with diverse populations and maintain an environment that promotes inclusiveness and respect. * With approval, attend training and conferences pertaining to applicable workplace duties. * Assist with workshops, trainings, and orientations to share information regarding SDSS, accommodations, and disability-related topics. * Perform other duties as related or assigned. * Assist with managing student workers, as needed. Requested Minimum Qualifications Education: * Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Education: * Four years of experience. * Prior experience in the delivery of student academic and/or support services. * Working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other disability related laws. * Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and empathy. * Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations in an inclusive manner. * Ability to demonstrate both excellent written and oral communication skills. * Ability to demonstrate organizational skills and the ability to multitask, with attention to detail. * Computer skills and proficiency in programs such as databases, PowerPoint, Google Suite, and Word Suite. * Ability to effectively interact with colleagues, supervisors, and customers. Other Preferences for Consideration ● Bachelor's degree in counseling, education, rehabilitation, psychology, or other related fields. ● Working knowledge of accessible technology. ● Experience with emotional support animals or service animals. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities ● Commitment to collaborative work in support of students, faculty, and staff in the context of the department and university mission and goals. ● Organized and detail-oriented. ● Ability to multitask and exercise initiative and resourcefulness. ● Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. ● Knowledge of assistive technology for individuals with disabilities. ● Knowledge of PC applications, Google Suite, Canvas, Social Media, and other related programs. ● Knowledge of various disabilities and their effects on students in higher education and on employees in workplace settings. ● Understanding of reasonable accommodations in higher education and workplace settings. ● Working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504, and other applicable laws. ● Ability to maintain concentration while dealing with interruptions, with attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy. ● Ability to travel throughout the campus. ● Ability to travel for training or conferences, on and off campus. ● Ability to maneuver 25 lbs. for specialized equipment. ● Ability to stand and sit repeatedly.
