Summary

The Academic Student Support Coordinator UB Profess. will assist with the implementation of the tutorial program in target schools. Serve as a consultant with other staff and instructors to facilitate technology-rich teaching and learning by providing evaluation and technical support related to the College's online learning management system for online, hybrid, and web-augmented courses. This includes support for academic courses, self-paced learning modules, audio/video components, and other training resources for faculty, staff, and students. The focus of this position is to provide pre-college counseling and preparation to low-income, first-generation high school students. This focus also entails facilitation of educational, cultural, and social development enrichment activities for high school program participants. The goal of this focus is to create and maintain an educational environment conducive to obtaining a high school diploma and assisting with preparation to gain entry into a post-secondary institution. The Academic Student Support Coordinator UB Profess. will provide program avocational and educational guidance for each program participant with a special focus on senior program participants. assist participants with the college application and financial aid process. Must be able to plan cultural and educational activities for participants, visit all assigned schools as needed. Coordinate with UB staff members to ensure intensive academic monitoring along with transcript and report card review, and course selection and advisement establish a network of personal contacts in financial aid, admissions, TRIO Offices. Serve as an advocate for students with those offices. assist students in location scholarships and ensure that each senior has been offered an adequate financial aid package, work with parents and school professionals to promote the goals of the program assist with recruiting, interviewing, and providing orientation to all new eligible students for the project each year. The Counselor/Instructional Technologist will also assist with the implementation of the tutorial program in target schools and serve as a consultant with other staff and instructors to facilitate technology-rich teaching and learning by providing evaluation and technical support related to the College's online learning management system for online, hybrid, and web-augmented courses. This includes support for academic courses, self-paced learning modules, audio/video components, and other training resources for faculty, staff, and students. Other duties assigned by your supervisor. Qualifications A bachelor's degree in counseling or related area: Masters preferred. Minimum of two years' work experience in high school, college, or public service agency counseling.
