Job Description
The Gwinnett County 4 – H Program Assistant will provide educational programs for middle school age youth (6th to 8th grades). This role will offer science-based curriculum enhancement during school hours to 4th and 5th grade classrooms. The ideal candidate will offer broad based educational components through 4-H out of school meetings, field trips, competitions, and summer programs.
Essential Duties
- Developing education handouts and curricula for classes, programs, and events
- Participating in regular staff meetings and assisting with in-service training
- Acting as a liaison between parents, staff, and school officials
- Performing clerical duties in support of program activities
- Creating and maintaining records and files
- Answering telephones and scheduling activities
- Performing other duties of a similar nature or level, as assigned
Grade
- The Grade for this position is B231. The salary will be based on education and experience.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's in education or related field
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
- One year of related experience
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's in human/youth development, education, animal science, recreation, sociology, or related area
- Two years of experience developing educational programs
Other Job Requirements/Information
- This job will require fingerprinting and a background check.
- This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
Public Speaking
- Must possess the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with program participants, community groups, the general public, and fellow staff through both speaking and writing.
- Must be able to speak and present in front of audiences of students, parents, teachers, and others.
- Must be able to speak and promote and/or market 4 - H programs and trainings at health fairs, and county-wide events.
