What You Need To Know
As a Heavy Laborer, you will perform general, non-mechanical labor duties throughout the plant to support production. This includes handling raw materials, inspecting products, assisting with container checks, and maintaining a clean work environment. The job requires physical strength, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.
What You’ll Do
Inspect products for defects and remove any extraneous material.
Perform various labor duties to support production.
Prepare raw materials for processing.
Manually deposit fatback into cans or operate a meat depositor.
Conduct container inspections, ensuring proper seams, lid placement, and fill levels.
Maintain a clean work area, including sweeping, disposing of materials, and general housekeeping.
Understand basic equipment operation and know how to stop machinery if needed.
Report any mechanical or safety issues to a supervisor immediately.
Assist in loading and unloading kettles in the retorts.
Lift up to 100 lbs as needed for job tasks.
Operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, bobcats, and hoists when necessary.
Follow all food safety, plant hygiene, and GMP guidelines.
Adhere to safety protocols, including wearing required protective clothing and equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Leadperson.
What We’re Looking For
Ability to work 2nd shift and overtime when required.
Basic math skills and ability to record data accurately.
Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills.
Previous experience in food processing is preferred but not required.
Good attendance record and safe work habits.
Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and perform physical labor in a fast-paced environment.
