Summary

Program Goal: Looking for an opportunity to support middle school youth in a hands on, differentiated, project-based Robotics curriculum? Our Middle Grades Robotics Summer Program is an innovative collaboration with the Somerville High School Robotics Team, all supported by the Somerville Public Schools. We are looking for a Program Coordinator to manage a team of teen mentors, oversee curriculum co-design and implentation, handle attendance, communicate with families, inspire participants, redirect unfavorable behavior in a positive and supportive way, and assist with additional tasks as needed. This position works in close collaboration with the Summer Robotics Program Coordinator, Somerville High School Fab Lab Manager, SPELL Administration and Summer Middle Grades Robotics High School Youth Mentors, Responsibilities: * Provide programmatic leadership and daily direction * Willingness to learn and jump in enthusiastically * Be able to quickly build strong relationshsips with students, parents, and staff * Work collaboratively with SHS Robotics Teen Mentors * Excited to serve as a role model for youth Terms of Employment: Seasonal/Yearly Employment Salary: $35 per hour Program Preparation: Tuesday July 1 through Thursday July 3 from 8:00am - 1:00pm Session 1: Monday July 7 through Friday July 11 from 8:00am - 1:00pm Session 3: Monday July 21 through Friday July 25 from 8:00am - 1:00pm Session 4: Monday July 28 through Friday August 1 from 8:00am - 1:00pm Position Reports to: The Innovation Specialist The Somerville Public School does not discriminate in its programs, facilities or employment of educational opportunities on the basis of race, color, age, religion, disability, pregnancy, home status, marital/civil union status, sex/gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, citizenship status, place of birth, national origin, ancestry, cultural identity, genetics or military status, and does not tolerate any form of retaliation, or bias-based intimidation, threat or harassment that demeans individuals' group or interferes with their ability to learn or work.
