Acton-Agua Dulce Unified Speech Language Specialist Class Definition:  Confidential Certificated Reports to:  Director of Special Education Duties and Responsibilities: * Provides formal and informal assessment of communication abilities for students, explains results in a clear manner, and makes useful recommendations based on the child/student need. * Plans and implements service delivery models and schedules in assigned sites. * Provides service coordination for children/students, including planning, organizing and conducting meetings. * Provides consultation services to Local Education Agency (LEA) staff, Education and families of children/students with communication disorders. * Develops and maintains caseload schedule in assigned sites. * Maintains records, data, and reports as required by the agency, districts, state and federal agencies. * Performs other duties as assigned.   Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of procedures and regulations governing exceptional children programs; skills in consultation with school and agency staff; skill in oral and written communication; ability to maintain accurate records; ability to learn about other education and education-related services and to establish cooperative relationships. Training and Experience: Completion of education in a Speech and Language Specialist program, possession or eligibility for a Speech Services credential, and three years of closely related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
