* Valid California Teaching Credential or Emergency 30-day Substitute Permit required. If teaching for the first time in San Mateo County, a Certificate of Clearance will also be required. Applicants who do not hold a credential may obtain a 30-day substitute teaching permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. This license requires at least a Bachelor's Degree, passage of the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) or equivalent, and fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice.
