What You Will Do:
Lead a team in the production department of a batch process chemical manufacturing facility.
Lead by example in safety, ensuring work is completed without incident while fostering teamwork and maintaining a regular presence on the plant floor. Promptly report injuries, incidents, and near misses to support risk management
Ensure work is performed according to SOPs, safety guidelines, and ISO 9000 quality standards while applying 5S tools to sustain a clean, organized work environment
Complete projects to drive continuous improvement in the department. Participate in cross-departmental sub-teams as needed
Supervise the performance of a team of chemical operators in a production department. Mentor and coach the team in order to develop a high-performance work group
Update SOP’s, batch instructions and other technical documents to support quality system and chemical process
Coordinate with the other production leaders to review priorities, plan schedules, and manage workflow to ensure uninterrupted production, accurate inventory, and goal achievement in the assigned production department
Measure decisions versus budget restraints and be able to explain deviations.
Evaluate and document employee performance, providing constructive feedback and recommendations. Collaborate with HR to make and implement decisions on hiring, promotions, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions
Issue and follow up on maintenance work orders for repair to ensure the process is reliable for the operators.
Oversee and facilitate employee training on equipment operation, work practices, and safety procedures, ensuring completion on time and effectiveness in practice
What You Need to Succeed:
Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of chemical manufacturing experience required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or other technical discipline is strongly preferred. Prior leadership experience required

Microsoft Office proficiency required including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and others. Prior ERP experience and timecard management experience preferred.

Ability to manage, train and develop employees; ability to give and receive constructive feedback
Demonstrated planning and organization skills; proved track record of effect problem solving. Ability to multi-task and delegate functions
Strong collaboration and teambuilding skills with stakeholders across functions
Attentive listener along with strong written and verbal communication skills
