Job Title: Production Supervisor Department: Operations Reports To: Plant Manager SUMMARY: Directs and coordinates activities of production department in processing materials to produce a finished packaged product. Directs and coordinates hourly plant employees in the process of making pork rinds. This position is an advocate for Rudolph Foods Safety and training programs. They will help motivate and empower hourly associates to create a safe working environment that A-line with Rudolph Foods mission statement and core values as well as drive a positive culture. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations. Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization. · Directs Production employees ensuring a safe, top quality and efficient product. Ensure all employees follow the standard operational and working practices required. Ensures proper sanitation procedures are followed. Ensure all Food Safety & Quality procedures are followed; along with enforce our SQF policies to ensure compliance and proactive solutions. Coaches all employees on safety and ensure safety policies are followed. Facilitates onboarding of new hires. Tracks and maintains up to date training records for hourly associates Has Immediate Coaching Responsibility for seeing that products are produced in the most cost-effective manner possible. This activity is accomplished through the hourly associates. Control absenteeism by supervisory emphasis and counseling as necessary. Minimize waste, reject and substandard product. Ensure all record keeping is accomplished correctly so cost accounting data is accurate. React to changing situations including schedule changes, supplies shortage, and other plants' need. Work with maintenance department to help keep equipment in best mechanical operating condition. Review all accident and incident investigations with the objective of taking action to eliminate future occurrences. Ensures that safety activities by production associates are accomplished as outlined in the plant's safety program. (LOTO, equipment inspections, etc.) Ensures safety investigations on conducted. Ensure hourly associates are properly trained regarding job responsibilities. Maintain good morale and positive attitudes among the hourly associates. Collaborate and develop positive relations with other departments to achieve goals in safety, quality, service and profitability. Counsels hourly associates and administers disciplinary action as necessary. Investigates all grievances/complaints and notify management. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES · Directly supervises 30-40 employees in production, Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. QUALIFICATIONS · To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience with GMP's, HAACP, sanitation, process improvement, plant safety programs, GFSI and quality assurance. Also must have proven ability to lead, make decisions, facilitate change, and manage conflict. Ability to align performance for success and demonstrate strong people skills. A.) from four-year College or university; and/or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience or 2-5 years supervisory experience and an Associates Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: · Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with employees and management. · Required the ability to speak fluent in Spanish and English. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: · Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: · Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
