Summary You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/OCEANOGRAPHER/DATA SCIENTIST in the OCEANOGRAPHIC DEPARTMENT, NAVAL OCEANOGRAPHIC OFFICE of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS. Duties Help <ul><li>You will serve as a senior scientist in the analysis and databasing of oceanographic data in support of operational requirements.</li><li>You will implement and document new or improvement of existing oceanographic processing, data analysis, and visualization techniques, testing and validating upgrades in collaboration with other scientists.</li><li>You will participate in at-sea oceanographic operations serving as a senior Oceanographer ensuring that all physical oceanographic data is collected properly. </li></ul>Requirements Help Conditions of employment <ul><li>Must be a US Citizen.</li><li>Must be determined suitable for federal employment.</li><li>Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.</li><li>New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Conducting at-sea field operations, including the collection and quality control of physical oceanographic data using a variety of scientific instruments including but not limited to Conductivity, Temperature, and Depth profilers (CTDs), Expendable Bathythermographs (XBTs), Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs), and Moving Vessel Profilers (MVPs). Experience preparing and presenting reports or briefings that convey technical oceanographic information to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.
