The Congregational Church of Canton is seeking a welcoming and organized Part-Time Church Secretary to be our main office staff. This individual will manage administrative operations, church communications, financial records, and event support while acting as the point of contact during working hours for members, visitors, and the wider community. The ideal candidate has a genuine heart for helping others, pairs a compassionate phone and front-desk presence with strong administrative skills, and is comfortable assisting a diverse range of people.
 
Schedule &amp; Hours
<ul>
<li>September – May: Tuesday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (16 hrs/wk)</li>
<li>June – August: Tuesday – Thursday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (12 hrs/wk)</li>
</ul>
 
Tasks include but are not limited to:
<ul>
<li>Hospitality &amp; Front Office Reception: Act as the primary welcoming presence in the church office by answering the phone and greeting all in-office visitors with warmth and patience.</li>
<li>Dual-Format Information Sharing: Patiently assist individuals with varying levels of tech-savviness by providing resources in whatever format they need.</li>
<li>Worship &amp; Event Support: Prepare service and special bulletins, copy music, update bulletin boards, and book events like funerals.</li>
<li>Communications &amp; Outreach: Manage community news via Constant Contact, update the church website, submit announcements to local press, and send donor/welcome correspondence.</li>
<li>Administration &amp; Calendar: Maintain physical and Google calendars, compile annual reports, and keep official church records for baptisms, weddings, and funerals.</li>
<li>Financial &amp; Purchasing Support: Record and deposit incoming funds, forward bills, meticulously track expenses, and order supplies for the church, preschool, and facility needs.</li>

<ul>
<li>Hospitality Mindset: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; a warm, patient, and helpful demeanor when interacting with a wide range of individuals.</li>
<li>Operational Flexibility: Ability to seamlessly bridge the gap between digital systems and physical paperwork to help everyone access information easily.</li>
<li>Presence: Must work in-office at the Congregational Church of Canton during scheduled hours.</li>
<li>Background: Must pass a CORI and SORI background check.</li>
<li>Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Google Calendar maintenance.</li>
<li>Preferred Experience: Experience with Constant Contact and basic website updating preferred.</li>

Duties and Responsibilities
