Job Description: EDUCATION Other: Graduate of Respiratory Care Program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) or equivalent education/experience CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE * RCP-Respiratory Care Practitioner * BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN: * Acute care clinical experience in Respiratory Care, training in arterial puncture and blood gas analysis. * Previous experience in performing EKG is desired. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE * Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, chemistry, and physics. * Knowledge of bedside pulmonary function testing; mechanics and equipment. * Knowledge of arterial puncture and blood gas analysis, equipment and quality control. * Demonstrated familiarity with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards and College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation * Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. * Must be able to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in volatile situations. * Must be able to understand, read and write the English language.
