Role Overview
We are seeking a Marketing Script Writer to craft compelling narratives for our marketing content. In this mid-level role, you will translate complex fintech concepts into clear, captivating scripts for videos, webinars, and other multimedia channels. You’ll work closely with our marketing and product teams to understand audience pain points and industry trends, using that insight to create stories that resonate. The ideal candidate is creative and detail-oriented, with both high intellectual aptitude and strong emotional intelligence – able to grasp technical topics quickly (high IQ) while collaborating effectively and adaptively with a diverse team (high EQ). Compensation is competitive and open to negotiation based on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Craft Engaging Marketing Scripts: Write clear, persuasive scripts for marketing videos, product demos, webinars, and other promotional content, transforming fintech jargon into relatable stories that engage a general audience.
- Research & Audience Understanding: Conduct research on product features, customer pain points, and fintech industry trends to inform script development. Ensure all content is accurate and grounded in a solid understanding of the subject matter and target audience.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with marketing strategists, product managers, and designers to align scripts with campaign goals and brand voice. Incorporate input from subject matter experts and stakeholders to refine content.
- Adhere to Brand and Compliance Guidelines: Ensure scripts meet our brand’s editorial standards, tone, and style guidelines. Maintain compliance with any relevant financial marketing regulations and convey trustworthiness in all communications.
- Iterate and Refine Content: Embrace feedback and edit scripts as needed, delivering multiple drafts or versions for consideration. Adapt quickly to changing client or team needs by pivoting tone or messaging as necessary.
- Multi-Channel Adaptation: Repurpose or tailor script content for various channels and formats (e.g., short social media videos, voice-overs, podcasts) while maintaining consistency in messaging.
- Manage Projects & Deadlines: Handle concurrent projects and manage your time effectively to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Coordinate with project managers to ensure timely delivery of script drafts and final copy.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in copywriting, content writing, or script writing for marketing. Proven track record creating content for video or multimedia campaigns is highly desirable.
- Fintech Knowledge: Solid understanding of the fintech or financial services industry – able to quickly learn and convey concepts in digital banking, payments, blockchain, or related domains. Comfortable explaining financial technology trends in layman’s terms.
- Exceptional Writing & Storytelling Skills: Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, and engaging narratives. Skillful at simplifying technical or financial jargon into compelling stories that resonate with a general audience.
- Analytical and Creative Aptitude: Strong problem-solving skills and creativity, indicating high intellectual capacity. Able to digest complex information and strategize how to present it in an interesting way.
- Communication & EQ: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. High emotional intelligence (EQ) with the ability to collaborate with diverse team members, accept constructive feedback, and adapt your writing style as needed for the project.
- Detail Orientation: Meticulous attention to detail in grammar, tone, and factual accuracy. Commitment to producing error-free content that upholds our brand’s quality standards (especially important in finance content).
- Self-Management: Self-starter who can work independently in a remote setting. Capable of managing multiple assignments, prioritizing tasks, and delivering on deadlines without close supervision.
Preferred Experience
- Fintech or SaaS Content Background: Experience writing for fintech products, financial institutions, or SaaS platforms (e.g. producing content for banks, payment apps, or digital wallets). Prior work with fintech brands is a strong plus.
- Agency or Marketing Team Experience: 2+ years in a marketing agency or in-house creative team environment, which involved collaborating with designers, marketers, or clients on content projects.
- Adaptable Writing Portfolio: Versatility in writing across different media – from video scripts to social media copy to blog posts. Ability to adjust tone and style for various formats and audience segments.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Finance, or a related field is preferred (or equivalent professional experience in writing/content creation).
- Remote Work Skills: Proven success in a remote role. Comfortable using collaboration tools and able to integrate with an off-site team. Experience managing client communications and feedback cycles as an independent contractor is a plus.
- Industry Engagement: A genuine interest in fintech and financial innovation. Keeping up with fintech news and emerging trends (e.g. digital banking, cryptocurrency, regtech) to inform your writing will be beneficial.
