Vaco is hiring for a Controller opportunity in Coraopolis PA.

Position Summary
We are seeking a Controller to oversee and manage the full spectrum of accounting operations. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations. The Controller will work closely with external auditors (including FAR audits), manage tax preparation, and lead the preparation of audited financial statements.
The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented leader who thrives in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment. This position reports directly to the CFO/Executive Leadership and manages a team of 3 accounting professionals.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the daily operations of the accounting department (GL, A/P, A/R, payroll, and month-end close).
• Ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and other relevant standards.
• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Develop and manage annual budgets and periodic forecasting.
• Oversee and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
• Coordinate and support all external audits, including FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) audits.
• Lead the preparation and coordination of all corporate tax filings.
• Manage journal entries, bank and credit card reconciliations, and general ledger activity.
• Review and manage client billings to ensure they are accurate and align with contractual obligations.
• Drive process improvements to enhance financial reporting and operational efficiency.
• Mentor and supervise a team of 3 accounting professionals, providing direction and support.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required).
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Experience in the construction, engineering, or inspection services industries preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, FAR compliance, and financial statement preparation.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience coordinating external audits and tax preparation.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
