Position Overview:
The Analyst, Payroll will be responsible for assisting in leading all company payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. Reporting to the Manager, Payroll, the position will help develop and implement policies and procedures. This position will help lead a payroll team and execute various Payroll initiatives. The Analyst, Payroll will also build positive relationships with business partners and stakeholders to ensure payroll practices are proactively developed.
Position Responsibilities:
* Assist in ensuring accurate and timely production of the payroll functions; oversee and participate in the review, verification, auditing and processing of payroll forms, records and documents.
* Assist in overseeing and auditing the daily operations of the payroll department; research, evaluate and ensure that payroll issues and discrepancies are resolved in a proper and timely manner; and maintain/update set up in the payroll system.
* Assist with the quarterly/year-end processes, including but not limited to reviewing, auditing and distributing W-2's and preparing tax reports.
* Participate in complex payroll support functions; calculate, review, verify and post a variety of complex payroll data.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, Accounting, and IT, to gather data requirements and streamline data flows.
* Proactively partners with business leaders to ensure supervisors are compliantly and timely managing payroll requirements.
* Develop, lead, and provide work direction and guidance to assigned staff; coordinate employee work assignments and review work for accuracy, completeness and compliance with established standards, requirements and procedures.
* Continuously reviews laws, rules and regulations that apply to the payroll functions and partners with legal and other stakeholders to ensure compliance.
* Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley "SOX". As well as federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws; and identifies recommendations to action.
* Produce necessary schedules and documentation for applicable audits.
* Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
* Support company initiatives through design, development, and reporting activities.
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field, required.
* 5+ years of related experience.
* Experience leading direct reports.
* Extensive knowledge of multi-state (Nevada, California, Texas, etc.) payroll function, payroll taxes, and internal controls.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to identify key causes and workable solutions.
* Strong, professional communication skills in listening, speaking, and writing is necessary for communication with all levels of employees.
